On average, most healthy adults need at least seven hours of sleep each night. However, everyone’s sleep needs can vary, with some people needing less than seven hours of sleep and others needing more.

The quality of sleep is also important, as waking up refreshed and energized is more important than the exact number of hours of sleep.

Poor quality sleep can have a negative impact on your health, increasing your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and mental health problems.

Here are some tips to help you improve the quality of your sleep:

Set a regular sleep schedule and stick to it, even on weekends.
Avoid using electronic devices at least two hours before bedtime.
Make sure your bedroom is cozy, dim, quiet and cool.
Engage in relaxing activities such as reading or listening to music before bed.
Don’t lie in bed if you can’t fall asleep. Get up and do something relaxing until you feel like sleeping.
